Modern TV and America

What’s wrong with modern TV?

Whenever I watch modern TV/films I can’t help but notice how bad they are. Yet somehow everyone loves them. The stuff than comes out of America is far worse than the stuff made in the UK, but even here the quality of TV is still on a decline. I’m sure Brits will know what I’m saying when I say that I can’t watch any American car shows, but it goes deeper than that.

The main problem with modern TV is that it’s all about throwing guns, sex, and violence in your face, when it is completely unneeded. I suppose we can thank social media for frying the dopamine receptors of the modern day audience, causing TV like this to be made. TV is not about telling a good story, it’s about throwing all of this hyper stimulating content in your face and calling it “entertainment” (it is in fact the opposite). The same can be said about the pace of modern TV, it has to be too quick to be able to keep the modern day audience entertained. I can’t think of the last time I went to the cinema and walked out thinking that the film I watched was good.

American “entertainment”

Although British TV is still mostly rubbish, it’s miles ahead of anything out of America. I mentioned car shows earlier because this is one the best examples. American car shows are manic, loud, and annoying. The reason I like British car shows is because they’re not shows set at a insanely fast pace, hosed by screaming Americans. You do get some good entertainment from America, but all of their mainstream entertainment is manic. If you are looking for some good car content, I would highly recommend Harry’s Garage.
